Safely handle dry ice

 

Know the dangers of handling dry ice. Dealing with dry ice is very dangerous because its extreme low temperature can lead to frostbite and tissue damage. Carbon dioxide is also toxic in unventilated areas.

 

1.    Protect yourself by wearing long-sleeved shirts, trousers and toeless shoes

2.    Use pliers to pick up dry ice. Don't touch dry ice directly with your hands.

3.    Cut dry ice into small pieces with a chisel

4.    Use dry ice in well-ventilated areas

5.    Avoid direct contact with dry ice and food
